A writer in the Detroit Free Press declares that a party to be known as the “Golden Rule Party” with Henry Ford as chieftan is to be planted in the living rooms of the White House at Washington on March 4, 1925. Behind Henry Ford, the Free Press writer says, is the entire town of Hoboken N.J. The writer adds “as goes Hoboken politically, so goes the nation, as has been so often said”.
The occasion for the article is the visit to Detroit of George Russell, Hoboken politician. The aim of the Ford boosters is to lable the automobile manufacturer and whoever chosen as his running mate for the Vice Presidency as the “Golden Rule Twins”.
