The Jewish Public Committee (Idgescom) will be in virtual control of the sanitary and hygienic work hitherto conducted by the “OZE”, the Society for Improvement of the health of the Jewish Population, according to an agreement signed a fortnight age between Dr. Grann, representing the “OZE”, and representatives of the Idgescom.
By the agreement, the “OZE” is permitted to conduct under the control of the Idgescom practical and educational research, as well as sanitary work. The management, while consisting of six members of the “OZE” organization and three of the Idgescom, may not execute decisions without the consent of the latter. In return for this control, the “OZE” is permitted to import machinery and medicines free of duty.
Dr. Grann is remaining here to manage the work. An important concession has been obtained by the “OZE” in being permitted to choose the employees for this work. It is important because the character and tendency of the organization’s activities will thus be determined by the “OZE”.
