Squads of infantry and cavalry are now patroling the streets, following the excesses against the Jews occasioned by the execution by the Soviet authorities of the Russian Vicar General.

The presence of the troops has served to quiet the alarm felt of a possible repetition of the disturbances. The city today was quiet. The damages inflicted in the disturbances of the past several days are estimated at a half billion marks.

The Prime Minister Sikorski today assured the Jewish Deputy Kirshbraun that all rioters will be severely punished and that the government will not tolerate any repetition of the disturbances.
