Notables from Palestine and other neighboring states gathered here today for the celebration of the Proclamation of Independence of Transjordania, with Emir Abdullah as the ruler. The text of the Declaration, which was agreed upon by the British Government in conferring the rights of autonomous administration upon the territory east of Jordan, was read by the Emir.
Sir Hebert Samuel, the British High Commissioner for Palestine, was the chief honor guest. He spoke in behalf of the British Government. Felicitating Transjordania on its attainment of independence, the Palestine High Commissioner declared Britain would continue its interest in the country, but for the rest the country would be what the Arabs will make of it.
