London Council Respects Jewish Sabbath

Stepney Borough Council on Monday night amended their by-laws, so that when a special meeting is convened upon requisition it should not be convened or held within the period of the Jewish Sabbath or during any Jewish holy day or on any Sunday, Christmas Day. Good Friday or Bank Holiday, and accordingly as the statutory meeting of the Council for the election of Mayor on Friday. November 9th, would in the ordinary way be held at an hour when the Jewish Sabbath had commenced, it was decided that it should be held two hours before that time.
