The Jewish sports meetings were opened yesterday at the Maccabee Ground in Bet-Hakeren. The hills around the ground were crowded with spectators, numbering about 5,000. Sir Herbert Samuel, the High Commissioner was present, accompanist by Lady Samuel, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Samuel and Mr. Bentwich.
Among those present were Mr. Ussischkin, Mr. Bialik, Mr. David Yellin and Colonel Kisch. Sir Herbert Samuel delivered the opening address in Hebrew.
