Congressman Mooney of Cleveland Voicing his opposition to the Johnson Bill, sent the following telegram to the Cleveland Jewish World today: “As I see it the use of the 1890 census figures is absolutely without excuse. It is a direct departure from the traditions of our nation and should be opposed to the bitter end. There can be no question but that a precedent will be established which for the first time makes the government recognize a difference in our own citizenship. Of course, you know that I shall oppose any such proposition to the very utmost.”
