British official circles have been informed of the critical Jewish position in Macedonia and the government is making an investigation through its own channels. The situation has become aggravated since the revolutionary committee has delivered an ultimatum to the Jews that they must pay an additional six million levy by January 25, or massacres will follow.

The Jewish communities are helpless, having no single representative in Parliament. The press is silent and the government is passive. Emissaries of the Revolutionary Committee are calling on individual Jews. Some, who have refused to submit to their demands for money, have been maltreated. A Jewish deputation visited the Foreign Minister but was informed that the Government is too weak to protect them. The Jews have already paid the Revolutarionary Committee nine million leva.
