Getting married according to the Jewish religious ritual is an offense for which one has to lose his position and be boycotted in communist Russia. This fact has been brought out by the Jewish communist daily, “Wecker” which, in a special editorial, condemns the Jewish teacher, David Shapiro, son of a Rabbi in Bobruisk, for having been married according to the Jewish ritual.

The paper says that Shapiro, who let his marriage take place under the clerical “black chuppah” instead of under the communist “red chuppah” is not worthy of his position, and that rather than waste money on such a teacher, who is liable to bring up the children in a spirit of religion and Zionism, it would be preferable to have the children remain at home. The paper then urgest the dismissal of Shapiro and his boycott.
