Attaman Dereschtchik, and his two assistants, responsible for many anti-Jewish pogroms in the Ukraine, were sentenced to death in Uman yesterday by the Revolutionary Tribunal. The rest of his band were sentenced to imprisonment.

The evidence submitted to the Tribunal disclosed the frightful list of murders committed by Dereschtschik and his band against many innocent Jewish residents. Witnesses testified that Dereschtschik was in the habit of shooting every Jew who came his way without cause. At one place, near Uman, the Attaman stopped eight passengers whom he shot, personally, on the spot. Kalosiuk, one of his assistants, had a very efficient method of killing Jews. He placed two Jews, back to back, and killed them with one bullet.
