Jewish Newspaperman Joins Hearst Paper in Baltimore

Arthur D. Marks has become publisher of the Baltimore American, a Hearst newspaper and one of the two morning dailies. He was formerly business manager of the Washington Post and before that business manager of the Washington Times.

Mr/Marks long has been an active figure in the business and financial life of the National Capital. He was President of the Washington Rotary Club for one term, and now is a member of the board of directors of that organization. He is a director of the Federal American National Bank, the Acacia Mutual Life Association and the Securities Corporation. He is one of the leading figures in the National Capital’s newspaper world.

Born in New Orleans, Mr/ Marks received his early education in New York City and went to Washington in 1898. He entered the newspaper profession as a member of the staff of the Washington Times more than twenty years ago.
