The death of Dr. Menachem Scheinkin has caused great sorrow among the Jewish population here. Thousands crowded Weinstein’s Funeral Chapel at 3645 Roosevelt Road in order to view the body. The Jewish neighborhood is in mourning. The general press devoted special articles to the sad event.

The body will be brought to New York on Thursday and will be accompanied by Mrs. Scheinkin. All arrangements have been made by the Zion-Commonwealth to transfer the body from New York to Palestine.

The Zionist Mass Meeting which was called for Sunday evening on the occasion of the Seventh Anniversary of the Balfour Declaration was transformed into a memorial to Dr. Scheinkin. Dr. S. Melamed and Mr. Max Shulman, president of the Chicago Zionist Organization, eulogized Dr. Scheinkin. The British Consul was present.
