The pledges which were given to the Minority Nationalities in Lithuania hold good only if the Minority Nationalities show themselves worthy of their privileges, declared the Christian Democratic representative on the Parliamentary Commission for considering the question of signboards being displayed in the Minority languages. The National Minorities in Lithuania, he proceeded, have not shown themselves worthy. They are conducting anti-Lithuanian propaganda abroad.

The Club of Jewish Deputies has today issued a statement in this connection that the pledges given by the Lithuanian State to the National Minorities are not merely an arrangement between two parties which can be broken off at will, but have been embodied in official international documents lodged with the League of Nations.
