Support of the pacific policy of the Minister for Foreign Affairs M. Skrzynski, at the last session of the League of Nations at Geneva, was voiced today in the Parliament by the President of the Club of Jewish Deputies, Dr. Leon Reich, during the debate on the vote of confidence in the Grabsky Government. While supporting the Government’s foreign policy, Deputy Reich said, they could not vote for the motion because M. Skrzynski had misrepresented at Geneva the position in Poland with regard to the national minorities. The Government had not satisfied even the minimum demands of the Jewish minority. The Jewish deputies, therefore, would vote against the Government.
Similar declarations were made by the deputies of the Ukrainian and White Russian minorities. The German minority deputies, on the other hand, declared that they would vote with the Government. The vote of confidence was carried by 210 votes against 170, the minority being composed of the parties of the Right, the Jews, Ukrainians and White Russians, and the majority of the Socialists, Radical Peasants, Centre Peasants (Witos Party) and the National Labor Party.
After the voting the Jewish Socialist deputy Diament called across to the Jewish deputies “Cheek by jowl with the anti-Semites!”
