The Minister of Education has dismissed from his post Prof. Zelia Codreanu, Vice-President of the anti-Semitic Fascisti Organization of Roumania, of which Prof. Cuza is President. This is the result of the disciplinary action taken against Prof. Codreanu for his part in the movement which has led to the murder of the Police Prefect of Jassy.

The funeral of the Jassy Police Prefect took place at Jassy this week with full military honors and was attended by tens of thousands of people. Among those who spoke at the open grave was the Secretary of State of the Department of the Interior, M. Tartarescu, who condemned the Fascisti anti-Semitic organization as responsible for all the discord existing between the different sections of the population in Roumania. “Our country,” he said, “is faced by two foes-one alongside the River Dniester, a foe who brings soldiers and gendarmes against us; the other in our own country, Fascisti, who have murdered our best Prefect. The Government makes no distinction between these two foes of our country. We shall not cease to wage war against this internal foe until we have emerged victorious.”

The Minister of the Interior has issued a statement declaring that the Fascisti organization and the Organization of Christian Students are illegal bodies in Roumania. Students are warned not to attend any meetings of these organizations under penalty of disciplinary punishment.
