Dr. Zevi Chajes, President of the Zionist Actions Committee and Chief Rabbi of Vienna, was the guest of honor at a luncheon tendered him by the Zionist Organization of America at Weinberger’s

Mr. Louis Lipsky was the toastmaster. Mr. Herman Conheim praised Dr. Chajes’ work both in the field of Jewish learning and as chairman of the Actions Committee. “Dr. Chajes made the A. C. an influential political body. Dr. Chajes was a professor and a statesmen first and then a Rabbi. I would like to mention one ‘negative’ virtue of Dr. Chajes. His modesty is equal to his great scholarship. He is the future head of the Hebrew University on Mt. Scopus”, said Mr. Conheim.

Rabbi Levinthal compared Dr. Chajes to Joseph the Dreamer, the Joseph who went to seek his brethren not only in body but in spirit.

Dr. Chajes gave a brief outline of his future plans regarding the Hebrew University.
