Jewish Council of Greater New York Meets in Convention Today

The convention of the Jewish Council of Greater New York which is affiliated with the American Jewish Congress, will be held today at the Central Jewish Institute. Five hundred delegates are expected to attend. Dr. Mordecal Saltes is president of the Jewish Council.

A mass meeting will be held this evening at Carnegie Hall under the auspices of the Jewish Council for the purpose of asking Congress to humanize the present immigration law by adopting an amendment which will put the wives, husbands and children of citizens and declarants for citizenship in the nonquota class.

Dr. Stephen S. Wise, Congressman Perlman, Congressman Mills, Judge Thomas W. Churchill, Judge Salvatore A. Cotillo, Dr. Alfred Wms Anthony, B. Charney Vladek and Max J. Kohler will speak at the meeting. Hon. Carl Sherman will preside.

LOUIS LIPSKY SAILS FOR ENGLAND TO CONFER WITH DR. WEIZMANN

Louis Lipsky, chairman of the Zionist Organization of America, sailed yesterday on the Berengaria for London.

Although the presence of Mr. Lipsky is required in America in connection with the $5,000,000 United Palestine Funds Appeal, Mr. Lipsky found it necessary to sail for London at the request of Dr. Weizmann. It was declared that as a member of the World Zionist Executive, Mr. Lipsky will participate in meetings, the purpose of which will be to shape the policies of the Zionist Organization, especially concerning the immediate needs of Palestine and the outstanding problems of the Zionist movement.

Mrs. Irving Berlin, the former Ellin Mackay, was not on the guest list of the Vanderbilt-Smith wedding on Thursday. An invitation was extended to her before she was married.

A campaign to complete the $5,000,000 building fund for the erection of the eight buildings of the planned Yeshiva College will be launched shortly. Samuel Levy is Chairman of the campaign. $2,000,000 have been raised. The proposed campaign will seek to raise the remaining $3,000,000.
