A gift of $500,000 to the Hebrew University for the construction of a memorial to her husband, was announced by Mrs. Sol Rosenbloom, widow of the late Zionist leader.
The Fund is to be used for the erection of a building on Mount Scopus, to house an auditorium, the administrative offices of the University and the Institute of Jewish Studies.
Mrs. Rosenbloom has chosen a committee of prominent men in America and Europe to aid her in planning the erection of the memorial.
The building will bear the name of Sol Rosenbloom and over the doorway is to be inscribed verse 3 from the second chapter of Isaiah : “For out of Zion shall go forth the law and the word of God from Jerusalem.”
Dr. Stephen S. Wise, in announcing the gift before a Pittsburgh gathering, in behalf of the United Palestine Appeal, declared, “This building shall stand forever as a tribute to the man whom American Israel gave to the world.”
