An increase in the volume of the emigration of Polish Jews to Palestine is expected within the next two months, it was stated here today by those closely in touch with the emigration situation.
Despite the general depression and the critical economic situation of the country, and particularly of Polish Jewry, new groups and cooperatives for immediate settlement in Palestine are being formed throughout Poland by Jews planning to emigrate. Every available Grosz is collected by selling goods, property and machinery, and the sums are transferred to Palestine banks.
This year the emigrants intending to go to Palestine are carefully making their plans after obtaining advice from Palestine experts.
The reports of the success of the United Palestine Appeal in America has had a favorable influence on the situation here, encouraging the emigrants that larger credits will be available for the incoming settlers this spring.
Among the groups preparing to leave for Palestine, plans were formulated for developing cattle raising and cotton growing. Many are interested in the Soskin colonization plan, which reduces the colonization cost and is greatly facilitated by the Keren Hayesod.
The Soskin settlements are to be comprised of 250 settlers each investing £400. The Keren Hayesod is expected to contribute £32,000 toward each settlement. The Soskin plan is based on the principle of intensive colonization and reduces the settling cost of each family.
