The United Palestine Appeal and the United Jewish Campaign will be conducted as separate drives in Detroit. This decision was reached at a meeting of the two committees last night. The original agreement to combine the two drives could not be carried out because of the difference in the periods covered by the two drives. Leaders of the Zionist Committee argued that the United Palestine Appeal could not combine its drive which covers one year, with the United Jewish Campaign, which is for three years, on the ratio of three to one.
The drive of $125,000 for the United Palestine Appeal will be launched immediately.
Morris Friedberg was chosen chairman of the drive and A. C. Lappin, director. Joseph Ehrlich was elected president of the Keren Hayesod.
