Archaeologists and ethnologists disagree with the theory that Jews had an influence on the ancient civilization on the Pacific Coast in the tenth and eleventh centuries.
Professor Charles Hiltauth, archaeologist, stated that the opinion expressed concerning early Hebrew influnce on the Pacific Coast has no foundation.
According to him, the theory was forwarded thirty years ago and upon investigation he found it without foundation. It is possible that several Jews came to the Pacific Coast in the first century, together with the Chinese. But it is impossible that they should have influenced the civilization.
The theory is that the Chinese crossed the Pacific first two or three thousand years ago.
