Palestine Electric Company Places Orders in Great Britain

Large orders for machinery will be placed with British manufacturers by the Palestine Electric Company, Ltd, of which Mr. Pinchas Ruttenberg is president, according to the information of the London “Daily Express.”

Sixty thousand pounds have already been spent by the company in England for equipment and fuel for the electric stations in Haifa and Jaffa.

$100,000 ADDED TO UNITED PALESTINE APPEAL AT RECEPTION GIVEN TO BIALIK IN BROWNSVILLE

The Brownsville and East New York section of the Greater New York campaign of the United Palestine Appeal announced contributions totalling $100,000 at a mass meeting given in honor of Chaim Nachman Bialik. The meeting was held at the Premier Theatre, Sutter Avenue and Hinsdale Street, Brooklyn, N. Y.

The speakers included Mr. Bialik, Dr. Schmarya Levin, Morris Rothenberg, Chairman of the Palestine Foundation Fund; and Morris Sapir, chairman of the Brownsville and East New York committee, who presided.

The total thus far raised in the Greater New York campaign is nearly $1,100,000, the largest sum New York has raised in one year for Palestine upbuilding, according to Benjamin Winter. New York chairman. The New York quota is $1,500,000.
