Samuel Vauclain, president of the Baldwin Locomotive Works, a Philadelphia concern which does business with every advanced country, in a speech delivered here said that the United States immigration laws are a great mistake, inasmuch as they bar certain classes of foreigners who desire to come to this country and would undoubtedly become useful in the labor world.

“The immigration laws,” said Mr. Vauclain, “put up a bar against those people who not only would come to this country for their own good, but who would no doubt become useful citizens.”
