A reception in honor of Lord Edmund Allenby was given here by Jews and non-Jews. He received Zionist delegations in this city and in Hamilton, accepting addresses from them.
Lord Allenby described the campaign of the Allied forces in Palestine before a large gathering at Massey Hall, Toronto.
At a civic reception by the Toronto City Fathers. the conqueror of Palestine was presented by a Zionist delegation with an address written in Hebrew on vellum. The address read:

(“Blessed be the Almighty, Master of heaven and earth, and blessed be our beloved King George V. Blessed be his great Field Marshall. Lord Allenby, who had the privilege of bringing the country of countries under the protection of enlightened Britain.
“We are confident that a brilliant future is dawning for the land of our fathers, that the Jews will work with energy and love for the success and prosperity of Palestine since they can trust in the grace of God and the promise of the government of mighty Britain, whose history is a testimony of its justice and Biblical spirit and certainly the Balfour Declaration will be realized in its fulfillment to the benefit of all people. The Jewish people are happy, knowing that the flag of Great Britain flies majestically over the mountains of Judea and happy art thou, outstanding Lord and hero, who had the privilege of being the first to raise the flag and to place Palestine under the sovereignty of Great Britain.

The Local Syrian Colony presented him with a Silver Loving Cup and the Star and Crescent Club, a Military Club, embracing all the veterans of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, honored him with a life membership in the Club, this being presented to him by the Secretary of the Club, Serg. Major Lewis Gurofsky.
Lord Allenby was the guest of honor at a banquet given by the B’nai B’rith lodge here.
The annual convention of the Council of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of Baltimore, Mr., opened at the Young Men’s Hebrew Association Building. The principal subject under discussion concerned the religious training given orphans at the home operated by the Associated Jewish Charities at Mount Washington.
It also was decided to send cards to each synagogue in Maryland requesting that sermons be delivered on “The Creed of the Fundamentalists versus the Creed of the Modernists.”
Judge Julian W. Mack addressed a meeting of the Avukah in Chicago, at which $15,000 was pledged for the city’s half million dollar campaign for the United Palestine Appeal.
Maurice Samuel and Judge Harry M. Fisher were the other speakers and Dr. A. B. Yudelson was the toastmaster at a dinner of women’s and men’s organizations in the city.
A scroll was presented to the Hoboken, N. J. Jewish Center by Julius Kislak and his sister, Mrs. Bernfeld, in memory of their father, the late Abraham Kislak.
