More details concerning the devastating fire which broke out in Ladi, government of Smolensk, were received here.
Six hundred houses were burned. Panic overwhelmed the population following the fire. Much of the property which was left was looted by peasants who came from the surrounding villages. The majority who suffered from the fire and the robberies were of the poorest Jewish quarter.
One Jewish girl and two peasant children were burned to death.
The population of Ladi is now without food and shelter.
