Franz Molnar, leader of the Awakening Magyars, who made an attempt on the life of the late Wilhelm Vaszonyi. Hungarian Jewish statesman, was appointed to the s? office of Chief Controller.

Ferdinand Varnay, Molnar’s accomplice in the attack on the life of Vaszonyi, was held by the police twice during the last few days for his attempt to identify Jews on the streets and annoy Jewish passersby.

Franz Molnar and Ferdinand Varnay attacked the late Dr Vaszonyi in the streets of Budapest last February while he was on his way to the Parliament Building to speak in connection with the forged frane notes affair in which he led the opposition against the government. The members of the Awakening Magyars inflicted severe head injuries upon Vaszonyi from which he never recovered. They had been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
