The suggestion that England give up its mandates for Palestine and Mesopotamia was made yesterday by the London “Daily Mail.”

The newspaper, discussing editorially the suggestions made in the French press that France resign from its Syrian mandate in favor of Italy, declares that in view of the long standing connections between France and Syria, this is impossible. However, there are no ties which bind England to Palestine and Iraq, the paper declares, suggesting that England give up both of these mandates in favor of Italy. Both countries are valueless for Great Britain. It was a mistake to accept them. Let Italy use them as an outlet for her surplus population, the paper says.
