A million franc fund for combatting cancer was established here by M. Leonard Rosenthal.

A special committee for the administration of the Rosenthal Foundation for the Combatting of Cancer has been elected. The members of the Committee include Mme. Curie, the co-discoverer of radium, and Professors Rigaud, Rcux, Calmette, Hartmann, Fabre and Dumas.

The first expenditure of the fund will be devoted to cancer research at the Institut Pasteur and the Institute of Radium.

A supplementary campaign to raise the sum of $100,000 for the Newark, N. J. Community Chest will start on February 18. The Community Chest is conducted under the auspices of the Welfare Federation from which the Conference of Jewish Charities is scheduled to receive $271,000 for the current year.

Opposition to any legislation that would interfere with the proper teaching of evolution or scientific knowledge generally in schools and colleges was expressed in a resolution adopted by the Educational Association of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in Memphis, Tenn.
