The mystery of Ford’s accident and the question which it aroused as to whether or not it was an attempt on the automobile manufacturer’s life were cleared up by an official statement of Robert Toms, Wayne County prosecutor, who received the report he had requested from Harry H. Bennett, chief of the Ford secret service. Mr. Toms issued a statement in which he declared:
“Mr. Bennett has told me his investigation has proved no attempt was made upon Mr. Ford’s life deliberately. He said he knew the mishap was accidental. He gave me to understand the driver of the car which forced Mr. Ford off the road is known. I understand they intend to prefer no charges. My office can do nothing unless charges are brought.
“Mr. Bennett’s statement will go on my books as a report. It closes the incident so far as this office is concerned.”
Of the 183 undergraduates at Harvard placed on the Dean’s list for highest scholastic honors, 51 are Jews. There are 52 Jewish students among the 481 students at Princeton who obtained scholastic honors this semester.
