Louis Lipsky, President of the Zionist Organization of America, who is here now attending the meetings of the Actions Committee, General Council of the World Zionist Organization, was feted today by the Actions Committee in honor of the twenty-five years of his activity in the Zionist movement.
The reception in Mr. Lipsky’s honor was attended by all the members of the Actions Committee. Dr. Chaim Weizmann spoke of Lipsky’s life and work, describing his exceptional abilities as Zionist and writer. Dr. Weizmann also greeted the other American Zionists present on the occasion, Henrietta Szold. Mrs. Irma Lindheim and Jacobs.
Nahum Sokolow characterized Lipsky’s activities as unusual. Lipsky, he stated, is a distinctly individual product of the new American Jewish life.
Dr. Schmarya Levin recalled the beginnings of the Zionist movement in America. He traced Mr. Lipsky’s role as Zionist and his rise from secretaryship to leadership in the movement which he now heads.
In replying to the laudatory remarks of the speakers. Mr. Lipsky said that “lately since my friends have discovered my age my life has been bitter.”
“I had hoped to escape banqueting in Europe but I see I have not succeeded.” he declared.
Mr. Lipsky discussed the Zionist movement in America, expressing himself as optimistic regarding its future.
