A small representation of Communists at a Jewish labor conference was responsible for riots, shooting and arrests in the Jewish quarter of Warsaw yesterday. The incident occurred at the opening of the first nation-wide conference of Jewish transport workers.
When the credentials committee submitted its report, it appeared that the Jewish labor party, Bund, was represented by 28 delegates, the left Poale Zion by 3, the non-partisans by 6 and the Communists by 3. Dissatisfied with their small representation, the Communists raised objections, during which shots were fired. The firing caused a panic in the hall and many were slightly wounded. The police arrived and made many arrests.
The riots continued today on Wolynska Street, the gathering place for Jewish package carriers. A group of 100 carriers engaged in a fight, during which many were stabbed and revolvers were fired. The police intervened, arresting many.
