Zakki Hadded, prominent Jewish resident of Tiberias, has been named President of the new Tiberias Municipal Council by the High Commissioner. He is the first Jewish Mayor of Palestine, apart from the Mayor of the purely Jewish township of Tel Aviv.
Mr. Zakki Haddef was included in the Colonial list of the King’s birthday honors; he received an honorary M.B. E.
