A hunger strike in the jail at Acre was declared by 39 prisoners yesterday.

The prisoners were arrested on the charge of participating in the Communist demonstration which took place in Haifa on May 1. They were sentenced to two weeks imprisonment.

The Union of Palestine Railwaymen despatched a protest to the government of Jugoslavia against the persecution of trade unions in that country.
