The Pavilion, the only Yiddish playhouse in Bukowina, was closed by an order of the Roumanian authorities.

Bukowina, with its considerable Jewish population, is the center of attraction for many Yiddish troupes and has a particular place in the history of the development of the Yiddish theatre in Eastern Europe.
