A wide range of activities are disclosed in reports received by the Union of American Hebrew Congregations from hundreds of Temple Sisterhoods throughou: the United States. These reports, made at the close of the active synagogue year, cover the activities of Sisterhoods in not only the large center of population, but in small far-western and southern communities. The Sisserhoods show steady progress in their efforts to serve the Temple, to attract the youth to worship to welcome the stranger and to practice benevolence and philanthropy. Following are brief pictures of the work of some of these groups.
Mishkan Israel Sisterhood, of New Haven, Conn. featured again during the past year a series of Parent-Teachers’ meetings which have attracted attention all over the country. Sending ## cards to babies on its #######
## ## bath School with annual subscriptions of “Young Israel” and made a substantial contribution to the Hebrew Union College Dormitory and Maintenance Fund.
An extensive program of activities was successfully carried out by a dozen committees of Temple Berith Kodesh of Rochester, N. Y., under the leadership of Mrs. Madeline S. Heilbrun, the president.
The Sisterhood of Mernphis, Tenn had a record breaking year in the sale of Uniongrams, according to Mrs. Eugent Greener, the president, giving credit to Mrs. Ben Jacobs, chairman of the committee in charge, for wining third place in the race by the Sisterhoods throughout the country to dispose of the largest number.
Courage under trying circumstances is revealed in the report of Mrs. I. Howa. president of the Temple Israel Sisterhood of Miami. Fla, who says: “It has been our let always to work under difficulties, especially this year, with no home and no place to use as pivotal center for our activities.”
Rockdate Avenue Temple Sisterhood of Cincinnati, of which Mrs. A. Strashun is president, added $2000 during the past year to its building fund, besides generous contributions to various philauthnopies.
