A world conference of the He’Chalutz, the international Zionist youth organization which prepares for pioneer work in Palestine, will be held in Danzig September 14, immediately following the Fifteenth Zionist Congress in Basle.

The conference was convoked to consider the situation in the light of the new decisions which are expected to be taken at the Congress with regard to the Chalutzim and the question of immigration. Eleven countries, it was stated here today, will be represented at the conference. The organization has a membership of 20,000.

In view of the present situation in Palestine, the headquarters of the He’Chalutz conducted a thorough survey of the Chalutzim in the various countries who are prepared to emigrate to Palestine. The He’Chalutz has decided to ask the Congress to obtain permits for the entry of 1,800 Chalutzim who are fully qualified and especially adaptable to Palestine conditions. Their entrance into Palestine in view of their training will not add to the unemployment, the He’Chalutz leaders believe. Preference is to be given in this group to the Chalutzim who are imprisoned in Russia and whom the Soviet government is willing to permit to go to Palestine.
