Permission to print the Biblical passage from the thirty-ninth chapter of Genesis dealing with the story of “Joseph and Potiphar’s Wife.” in the program of the play “Potiphar’s Wife” was granted by the Lord Chamberlin who had forbidden these passages to be spoken from the stage.
The audience at the opening at the Globe last night found the quotations printed on slips which were inclosed in the programs.
