Discrimination agains Jews in the recent raids on aliens in Hungary was brought to the attention of the Hungarian court in the case of Alfred Wohlstein, a native of Nagytapolsekany, a part of the territory which was severed from Hungary by the treaty of Trianon.
Wohlstein appealed to the court against the deportation order. At the proceedings his attorney, Rendes, charged that notwithstanding the fact that Wohlstein is a native Hungarian, he was sent out of the country because he is a Jew. The presiding judge declared that this was impossible. The attorney then drew attention to the fact that the text of the deportation law states that undesirable elements are not recognized as Hungarians.
