Rabbi Ezekiel Taub, known as the Jablonner Rebbe, Chassidic leader and founder of the Chassidic colony, Nachlach Jacob in Palestine, arrived in New York on the steamer Mauretania.
The establishment of the Nachlach Jacob colony was the culmination of an intensive Palestine movement among the Chassidim in Poland. The rabbi received wide applause when the first group of Chassidic settlers arrived in Palestine two years ago under his leadership.
The colony has recently suffered greatly because of lack of funds and its progress has been hampered. Rabbi Taub stated to the representative of the Jewish Daily Bulletin that he had come to the United States to attempt to raise a fund among his followers for placing the colony on a sound economic basis. Sixty families compose the colony.
