Warsaw Jewish Community Makes Grants to Jewish Cultural Institutions

The Schools and Talmud Torahs Commission of the Jewish community here has allocated a sum of 807,718 Zlotys for assistance to Jewish cultural institutions here. In addition a subsidy of 25,000 Zlotys has been granted to the Yiddishist secular schools, 5,000 Zlotys to go as prizes for Yiddish works of literature, 5,000 Zlotys as a grant-in-aid for the Jewish Art Society, 10,000 Zlotys for the Society of Libraries in Warsaw, and 5,700 Zlotys as subsidies to four Jewish sports organizations, 3,500 for the Macabee, 700 Zlotys for the Bar Kochba, 1,000 Zlotys for the Stern and 500 Zlotys for the Morgenstern.

Ten thousand Zlotys have been allocated for the Jewish evening classes and people’s university. It was also decided to organize a Jewish school exhibition in Warsaw, 2.300 Zlotys being allocated for this purpose. A subsidy of 1,000 Zlotys has been granted to the Jewish Teachers’ Seminary in Vilna. It has been decided that the language of instruction in all the schools of the Jewish community should be Yiddish.
