N.j. “y” Federation Holds Convention in Trenton

The Supreme Court of Connecticut, probably for the first time in the history of the state, took official cognizance of Yom Kippur. Echoes of the coal strike of the winter of 1925 and 1926 were being argued in the cases of the Riverside Coal Company of Hart-ford, for $18.000, in which Jewish lawyers were debating.

The lawyers advised the court that the day on which arguments were to be continued would fall on Yom Kinpur. The court declared the case postponed until after holiday. The lawyers in the ease were Meyers, Hinck and Traurig.

Religious services every Friday and Saturday morning will be held at the Jewish Students’ House on the Campus of the University of Pennsylvania during the coming year, according to an announcement made by Rabbi Simon Greenberge, advisor to the Jewish students at the University of Pennaylvania, Edward Sandrow a senior in the college department of the University will conduct the services regularly.

A bequest of $2,500 to the Genesee Home for Jewish Children. Rochester. N. Y. is contained in the will of the later Walter Hays, a director of the Stanley-Mark Strand Theater Corporation, according to word received at the institution. Mr. Hays died in New York on September 27th.

A bequest of $2,000 to the Phi D. Hofeller Foundation of Buffalo also was included in the will. Mr. Hays was a former resident of Rochester and

The Jewish Community House of Bensonhurst will celebrate the opening of its new building, on Bay Parkway on Sunday. November 27, with a Community Dinner in its banquet hall, at which the community comprising Bensonhurst. Bath Beach. Mapleton Par. Dyker Heights. Highlawn, and Ulmer Park, will be represented.

Abraham Gash is chairman of the dinner committee.

The reservations for the dinner of $25 for men and $10 for women include full membership in the Jewish Community House.

Herman Neaderland is president of the Jewish Community House.
