The problem of maintaining the Hebrew educational system in Palestine has entered a new phase with the promulgation by the government of an ordinance concerning maintenance of local schools.
According to the ordinance, the municipality of each city, town and village is to be considered as the authority responsible for education. The municipalities are endowed with the right to impose an education tax on the population.
