Practically his entire estate, valued at more than $300,000. is left to charity in the will of the late Samuel Hofman, filed before Assistant Probate Judge Edward S. Scheffler.
The leading beneficiary is the Chicago Community trust fund, which is to receive $200,000 in trust immediately and $145,000 more eventually. Thirty two charitable and civic organizations are to receive smaller bequests.
Relatives will receive the income from the $145,000 fund during their lifetime and then it will be turned over to the Chicago Community trust.
The will provides that the Anna Brill Hoffman memorial fund of the Jewish People’s Institute be raised to $5,000. Bequests of $5,000 are made to the United Charities and to the Jewish Charities.
