Lord Plumer, High Commissioner of Palestine, was authorized to enact an ordinance regulating women’s and children’s labor in the country, according to a statement made in the House of Commons yesterday by Major Ormsby Gore, Understate Secretary for the Colonies, in reply to a question from Susan Lawrence.
Replying to Commander Kenworthy, Sir Ormsby Gore stated that the High Commissioner had not asked the gove-ernment for a grant to relieve the victims of the earthquake since the funds required had been raised privately.
