Young Judaea Fund Raised; Annual Dinner Nets $21,000

A fund to continue the work of the Young Judaea, Zionist youth organization, was raised at the organization’s annual dinner Sunday night at the Biltmore Hotel. Rabbi Israel Goldstein, president, and Dr. Nathan Krass were the speakers. Borough President Julius Miller presided.

Twenty-one thousand dollars were subscribed, including contributions of $5,000 from Irving Rosenzweig, $2,500 from Col. Herbert H. Lehman, $2,000 from Nathan Straus and $2,000 from Irvin R. Chanin.

A campaign to raise $200,000 for the Young Men’s Hebrew Association of Perth Amboy, N. J. was launched yesterday. Isaac Alpern is honorary chairman and Max Gibian chairman of the campaign which seeks the sum to aid the local Jewish Community Center to pay off a deficit of $15,000, to cover the mortgage indebtedness of $65,000 and to provide a maintenance fund which will carry the Association over a period of five years.

“Can Jew and Non-Jew Meet?” was the subject of the address delivered by Rabbi Samuel M. Gup of Temple Beth-El, Providence, RI., before the World Unity Conference held in Worcester, Mass.
