International action to solve the problem of Russian and Armenian refugees, 250,000 in number, residing in various European capitals, will be taken, it was learned here.
The League of Nations and the International Labor Office have started negotiations to raise a fund for settling these refugees on the land in Bolivia, South America.
It was learned that a British cofonization company, which holds a concession from the Bolivian Government on an area of 30 million acres of land, is willing to receive settlers. It undertakes to give to each family 170 acres of land, agricultural implements and food for the first six months. Each settler’s family must consist of no less than 5 persons, and include at least one capable farmer. The land, it was added, can produce rubber, cotton and tobacco. The area also contains large stretches of grazing land and forests.
The League of Nations is now directing an inquiry to the several European governments where the refugees are to be found, to a scertain how many refugees can be transferred to Bolivia and what financial assistance the respective governments are willing to lend to this plan.
Recent reports current in the Palestinian and Zionist press recorded a rumor that negotiations are now being carried on by Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the World Zionist Organization to carry on its colonization work in Palestine. The sum of seven and a half million dollars was mentioned as the loan sought. The loan would be guaranteed by the League or by several of the leading powers, the reports stated.
