The receipts of the Keren Hayesod for the month of November were the lowest in the past five years, according to figures made public here. A total of £ 24,857 was received, of which the United States contributed £ 9,856, less than half the usual monthly remittance; South Africa £ 3,000; Germany £ 1,617; Argentine £ 1,499; Poland £1,481; Australia £1,094; Great Britain £1,000; Belgium £ 821 and Denmark £750.
A sum of £ 47,000 was spent during November by the Keren Hayesod for village buildings, irrigation in Nahalel, Nuris and the Jordon Valley settlements and for drainage in Jadpur and Harbatch for the Hassidic settlement there. As a result, it is now possible to erect permanent structures in these villages and to utilize otherwise wasted water for intensive cultivation.
A special donation of $4,000 received from Bernhard Goldstein of Vienna for the Hassidim in order to establish a school and a kindergarten, has been utilized for the purpose indicated, as has also a sum of £ 300 received from Alexandria in Egypt for the benefit of Sephardic farmers in Kfar Baruch.
