The League of Nations will aid a certain number of Jewish refugees stranded in Constantinople to settle in Palestine, it was disclosed at the Jewish Emigration Conference in session here, called at the initiative of the European branches of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid and Sheltering Society of America and the Emigdirekt.
This information was imparted by Z. Eberson in his report submitted to the conference. He stated that the director of the League of Nations Fund to Aid Refugees has proposed to aid 750 Jewish refugees in Constantinople to settle on state land in Palestine. The Fund is willing to defray a part of the expenses necessary to colonize these refugees expecting Jewish organizations to contribute the rest. Fridjhof Nansen, League of Nations Commissioner for the refugee work, has agreed to this plan.
