Gedallah Bublick Chosen Mizrachi President; New Leadership States Policy

Rabbis Inselbuch and Gold are Elected Vice-Presidents

Gedalish Bublick, well known Jewish writer and editor of the “Jewish Daily News,” was chosen president of the Mizrachi Organization of America at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the organization held last week, an announcement issued by the Mizrachi Organization states. Rabbi Elijah Inselbuch and Rabbi Wolf Gold of New York were chosen vice-presidents.

The choice of the new administration for the Mizrachi was effected by the Executive Committee in accordance with the decision of the thirteenth annual convention of the Mizrachi held recently in Boston. The convention did not succeed in electing the new leadership and ended its sessions by electing an Executive Committee, authorizing the committee to complete the election of officers. The Executive Committee at the same session, in accordance with a decision of the convention ruled that Rabbi Meyer Berlin, honorary president of the organization, is to have full rights in the leadership of the Mizrachi, together with the elected officers. A finance committee headed by Abraham Cohen was also chosen by the Executive Committee.

In a statement isued to the press, Mr. Bublick outlined the policy of the new leadership.

“There is now a large field for the Mizrachi movement in the United States.” Mr. Bublick said. “The conviction is growing that the national movement must be deeply rooted in Jewish tradition in Orthodoxy. The great success which the Mizrachi has achieved in Palestine in the field of education has won the recognition of even that Jewish world which stands outside of the ranks of Orthodoxy. The Mizrachi workers in Palestine are permeated with zeal and love for our homeland and constitute, just as well as the other Chaluzim-in addition to being completely Jewish in a religious sense–a type of national Jewish workman in Palestine. The prestige of the Mizrachi is firmly established on the basis of its achievements in Palestine.

“It will be the task of the new leadership of the Mizrachi to organize the forces of Orthodox Jewry in the United States for the rebuilding of Palestine in the spirit of Judaism. It will also be the task of the new leadership to make the Mizrachi a great factor in Orthodox Jewish life in this country, principally in the field of Jewish education, aiming to influence the course of Jewish education in America in the spirit which has made the Mizrachi schools in Palestine a great success. The Mizrachi schools in Palestine can without a doubt serve as an example of the Jewish school as it should be whether in Palestine or the Diaspora.” Mr. Bublick stated.
