Discrimination in favor of one group of the Jewish population against another was manifested in the resolution of the Lodz city council concerning allottments for school needs.

In the city council Socialist deputies have a majority. By this majority, the council allotted a subsidy of 31,000 Zlorys for the Yiddish schools maintained by the labor parties Bund and Peale Zion. The council declined to allot a subsidy for the schools maintained by the Jewish middle class, the Orthodox Chedorim and the Zionist Tarbuth schools.
